Party
With 19 seats in the legislature and Abel Pacheco in the presidency, the Social Christian Party (PUSC) is currently in a relatively strong position. Though officially founded in 1982, the party's roots come from the Revolution of 1948 and the policies of Rafael Angel Calderon Guardia. His son, Rafael Angel Calderon Fournier, held the presidency from 1990 to 1994. In general, the party opposes excessive public spending.
